Adriano Galliani slammed the door on Gaston Ramirez, admitted to talks for Riccardo Saponara and said goodbye when Alexandre Pato paid a surprise visit to Milan HQ.

It has been a busy day at the club’s Via Turati base, as Pato was there for 40 minutes this afternoon to say goodbye to directors ahead of his transfer to Corinthians.

Meanwhile, Vice-President Galliani is hard at work on incoming transfers and commented on the latest rumours.

“There’s no need for Ramirez, we are fine as we are,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “If someone leaves then we’ll see, but there are no ‘gifts’ on the horizon for the fans.”

There had been reports that Milan made an approach to Southampton for Ramirez, who left Bologna for the Premier League this summer.

Galliani was much more open to talk of a co-ownership deal for Under-21 international creative midfielder Saponara.

“Saponara is certainly a player that fits in with the policy of focusing on youth that Milan are taking.”

The 21-year-old is currently co-owned by Empoli and Parma, but the Rossoneri would be willing to pay €4m to buy out the Tuscan club’s half of his contract.

Saponara had also been linked with Juventus, Inter and Liverpool after scoring eight goals in Serie B this season.

“It’s true, there is a deal with Milan for half of Saponara’s contract,” Empoli director of sport Marcello Carli told Calciomercato.it.

“He was tracked by many clubs, but the Rossoneri were quick off the blocks. The player will remain with us until the end of the season. That was a decisive factor in negotiations.”
