Multiple reports in Italy claim Stefano Pioli could switch to a four-man defence against Napoli on Sunday, while Nicolò Zaniolo and Jonathan David are the main targets to replace Rafael Leao.

Pierre Kalulu’s fresh injury while on international duty with France U21 means Pioli may be forced to change his formation against the Partenopei when Serie A resumes this coming weekend.

According to Tuttosport and Sky Sport Italia, the Rossoneri boss will likely return to a four-man defence at the Stadio Maradona on Sunday night when the defending Serie A champions meet Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli.

The Rossoneri players trained at Milanello on Tuesday, while club directors are making their assessments ahead of the summer transfer window.

With Rafael Leao’s future still uncertain, Tuttosport maintains that Nicolò Zaniolo is one of Paolo Maldini’s targets for the summer, but Lille’s David has also been closely monitored by the Serie A giants.

The Canda international wouldn’t be a natural replacement for Leao, given that he is a natural centre forward, but Milan would use the revenues from Leao’s sale to tempt the 23-year-old who has scored 21 goals in 30 appearances with the Ligue 1 side this term.
