The Rossoneri owner is celebrating 30 years as owner of the San Siro club this week and gave a lengthy interview to Gazzetta dello Sport to reflect on his achievements.

“My objective is for the good of Milan,” he said.

“In modern football figures have entered who are endowed with infinite resources and so it’s difficult to remain competitive at the highest level.

“For this reason we felt that the contribution of energy and fresh capital was necessary. On this basis we have a negotiation that is ongoing and we expect it will be concluded.

“Will I be President of Milan for life? We’ll see how the next 30 years go and then decide…

“Does Marina want me to sell Milan? That’s absolutely not true. She always repeats to me that follow what my heart says and my heart continues to beat strongly for Milan.

“San Siro is our glorious history. The bond of affection and emotion with that pitch, those stands, that curva is very deep for every Milanista.

“However, the future seems to be for stadium ownership, according to the foreign model that is becoming increasingly widespread and that for now only Juve have been able to achieve in Italy.

“So the idea of Barbara was absolutely right. Unfortunately difficulties got in the way that we couldn’t predict at the time.

“So we’ll continue to play at San Siro, proud to be in the ‘La Scala’ of football.

“Barbara and Adriano Galliani have the good of the team at heart.

“Contradicting what her age would suggest, Barbara thinks more like a manager and Adriano like a fan.

“They’re both right and both wrong. It’s obvious that the Europa League is the goal within reach and it’s equally obvious that we’re not satisfied with this.

“In my life as an entrepreneur, a statesman, a man of sport, I’ve always followed one rule: set the objectives a little higher than normal common sense believes is easily reachable. And I’ve always reached them.”
