Milan must wait for Arsenal to give the all-clear before they can purchase Algeria international Ismael Bennacer from Empoli.

The 21-year-old midfielder seems to have agreed personal terms, after a few issues this week, and is ready to complete the transfer for €16m plus another €1m in add-ons.

However, Sky Sport Italia maintain the final word is down to Arsenal, as the Gunners have a clause in the contract when they sold him to Empoli for €1m in 2017.

That gives them the right of first refusal once Bennacer is sold, so if they match the Milan offer, then the Premier League side will have the priority.

However, transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims Arsenal have no particular interest in Bennacer, despite his impressive showing in Serie A and the Africa Cup of Nations.

Milan should therefore be able to complete the swoop next week, as his agents fly in to Italy on Monday.

A medical will have to wait, as Algeria have qualified for the semi-final against Nigeria.
