There are conflicting reports over Real Madrid’s stance on James Rodriguez and Dani Ceballos, which could have consequences for Milan and Napoli.

According to Goal.com’s Madrid correspondent Alberto Pinero, Los Blancos will only let James join Napoli on a permanent deal.

That differs to the lines put out by Sky Sport Italia and Gazzetta dello Sport, that the Partenopei had agreed a loan with an option to buy.

Pinero explains the capital club do not want to risk being lumbered with Colombian again after Bayern Munich did not take up their right of purchase.

La Gazzetta also warned on Friday that the 27-year-old had a clause in his contract with Adidas stipulating that he had to wear the No 10 jersey for all of his teams.

Napoli retired their No 10 as a tribute to club legend Diego Maradona, but that should not be a problem, considering James wore 11 at Bayern Munich.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, reports, Madrid are prepared to loan out the midfielder – but at the expense of Ceballos making a similar move to Milan.

As per Romano, Zinedine Zidane’s side will only loan out one of the two players and Tottenham Hotspur are ‘ready’ to buy the Spain Under-21 international.
