Milan, Napoli and Villarreal are doing battle for Schalke 04 attacking midfielder Amine Harit.
According to Footmercato in France, Villarreal had been tracking Harit for months and are ready to pounce now the club has been relegated.
They had already tried to secure a loan in January, but the Bundesliga side turned them down.
Now the Europa League winners are trying again, but face competition from Milan and Napoli, with the price-tag said to be at around €10m.
He is under contract until June 2024 and turns 24 later this month.
Born and raised in France, Harit represented Les Bleus at various youth levels, but switched to play his international football for Morocco.
He scored two goals and provided six assists in 31 competitive games for Schalke this season.
