The Serbian carries a great deal of hopes on his shoulders, and on his first Press conference as the head of the Rossoneri, he made it clear that he felt tremendous respect for the club.
“The level of organization, the atmosphere, the ambition, everything lets you understand that Milan are a world-class club,” he said.
“I'd like to thank President [Silvio] Berlusconi and [joint-CEO Adriano] Galliani for having chosen me, it's a source of pride.
“It's even more stimulating because I come here as a former rival,” said Mihajlovic, who formerly played with Inter.
“We've been through a couple of rough seasons but we have everything that's required to bring a smile back to the tifosi.
“We signed three players considered to be top of the crop. Our transfer campaign so far is great.
“In Italy there are no projects that are more ambitious than this one. People here think big.
“We must protect and defend our name on the pitch.”
The 46-year-old then compared himself to previous Coaches of the Diavolo.
“There have been some incredible Coaches and others that have been great winners.
“I have no Rossoneri history. I can only convince the supporters by my work, I don't have a sense of belonging yet.
“But I can tell my players that when I used to play against Milan, I felt fear and respect.
“Our stadium must return to be a fortress. Our adversaries must fear us.”
