Milan have reportedly lost out on Sven Botman, as LOSC finally convinced the defender to sign for Newcastle United.

The centre-back had held firm as long as he could, having agreed personal terms with the Rossoneri, as well as favouring them for his career progress in both Serie A and the Champions League.

However, the delays caused by the refusal of the Italian club to meet Lille’s €30m plus asking price and then turn towards other targets made any more waiting an untenable situation.

According to Sportitalia, Lille’s pressure on Botman to accept the Newcastle United transfer has finally paid off and it could be made official within hours.

There are even suggestions the cost of the operation will be €40m including add-ons, practically double what Milan were proposing.

It is one of two issues Milan have with LOSC, the other being Renato Sanches, who is also a target for Paris Saint-Germain.

The Rossoneri cannot give an all-clear to big transfer fees until they have locked down directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara to new contracts.

  1. Shame as he seemed keen to play for the club. Not sure it’s an area we needed to spend 30m on though. 30m on a right winger and attacking midfielder is what’s needed.

  2. gino tomato paste, is that you? Always moaning on Milan’s news. Well, all this transfer renewal delay of the directors are well calculated to serve as an excuse not to get him. Special after promise made and kept by the player.

  3. Milan don’t need a new player to win Scudetto. The current squad is more than enough unless they want to win UCL this season.

  4. Gino
OMG, Botman is a generational defender? Have you even watched him play in UCL?
It’s a shame we spent a lot of time on him before. But the fact that Milan not getting him doesn’t make him a better player, if you can remember example like Sensi, Kabak etc.

  5. Was never sold on Botman to be honest. But what worries me here is Milan‘s meddling on deals. Not sure if this is really an issue of RedBird not having declared the summer budget or if it’s simply Milan standing fir on their valuation of Botman and wouldn’t increase their bid…

  6. I would love it to be true as if he Milan will not pay what his agent wants then for sure its a bonus for us ⚫⚪⚫⚪⚫⚪🤞🤞🤞👍

  7. However you look at this it’s annoying after courting him for so long. Whether Milan need him or not is another matter.

I’m all for keeping the costs down and acting sensible regarding transfers but a club like Milan can’t lose its target like this. It’s humiliating.

  8. So much for the big spending some Milan fans were on about a month ago with the big takeover than never happened.

as usual, Serie A signing the leftover scraps and missing out on the big players.
