Milan midfielder sees specialist ahead of likely surgery

Sky Sport Italia reports Milan midfielder Tommaso Pobega will see a specialist on Thursday and will likely undergo surgery after sustaining an injury against Monza on Sunday.

The Italian midfielder sustained damage to the tendons of his rectus femoris muscle in his left leg during Milan’s 3-0 win over Monza last weekend and will likely undergo surgery in the coming days.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the former Torino midfielder will see a specialist on Thursday. Correspondent Peppe Di Stefano claims it will be an ‘important’ visit to determine the injury’s treatment, but it will likely be decided to send the 24-year-old under the knife.

According to Calciomercato.com, the decision has already been made, so Pobega will undergo surgery and remain out of action for over a month.

Both media report Milan are not expected to sign a new central midfielder following Pobega’s surgery, so a centre-back remains their transfer priority next month.
