Milan owner Gerry Cardinale met with Zlatan Ibrahimovic today to continue discussions related to the Swede’s return to the club, reports detail.

The former striker hung up his boots at the end of last season and many have called for him to return in a backroom role, able to continue inspiring and supporting the Rossoneri squad. He was a key figure in the locker room during his second spell at the club.

Milan started the season well but have hit a run of poor form following the October international break, picking up just one point in their last three league outings against Juventus, Napoli and Udinese.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Milan owner Cardinale met with Ibrahimovic this morning to deepen their talks regarding his return to the club. The former striker is in the city to attend tomorrow’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

The 41-year-old has not agreed to return yet, wanting greater clarity on his role and responsibilities at the club. He isn’t interested in simply being a figurehead and instead wants a more active role.

Milan believe Ibrahimovic could be a good addition to the backroom staff, so talks will continue to try and reach an agreement.
