Milan are looking for an alternative to Renato Sanches and they’ve reportedly reignited interested in Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi.
The 22-year-old Italian midfielder had a strong season with Sassuolo last campaign, which caught the attention of a number of top clubs in Italy. Roma in particular were strongly interested in Frattesi before ultimately pursuing other targets, having trouble breaking down the Neroverdi’s tough negotiating tactics.
As reported by TMW, Milan may reignite their interest in Frattesi as they look to strengthen their midfield this summer. Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are both big fans of the 22-year-old, but they’re aware of the difficulty of a deal.
It’s likely that Sassuolo wouldn’t let Frattesi leave for anything less than €30m, but a loan deal with an obligation to buy clause could prove convincing.
Milan will have to work hard if they want to pick up a new midfielder ahead of the start of the season. Their first game of the campaign is against Udinese on August 13.

Long season with CL included, we’ll need a more complete squad to compete. Want to see Pobega given a proper chance myself but Frattesi would also fit the squad. More than Sanches would have IMO.
Make sense, we need more MF to survive the tough schedule next season.
Pobega is great in his own way. But what we really need is someone who can replace Kessie’s characteristic.
Missing out on Sanchez because of few thousand on his salary is a disgrace, where are we going to find that quality for 15m? Milan always know how to ruffle things up…..we don’t need frattessi, we need a strong midfeilder like kessie, Sanchez was perfect but now it seems like we will settle with bakayoko and krunic as backup
