Milan have reportedly warned AS Monaco that they will not pay a penny more than €20m – including add-ons – for midfielder Youssouf Fofana, especially now West Ham United are out of the running.

They were confident for weeks that having agreed personal terms with the player, and his contract in Monaco set to expire in June 2025, they could wait it out and get a deal done later in the summer.

It did work to vastly lower the initial €35m asking price, but even that is not going to be enough to push the Rossoneri beyond their comfort zone on this transfer.

Milan set Fofana offer limits

According to Calciomercato.com, they have now made it clear that there is a limit to their proposal and that is set at €20m.

This includes add-ons, so would be a slight improvement on the €17m all-told offer that was rejected last time.

Milan are even more emboldened to secure Fofana with this strategy now that West Ham are no longer in the race, as they signed Argentina international Guido Rodriguez as a free agent instead.
