According to reports, Milan full-back Alessandro Florenzi today met with the FIGC Prosecutor to give a deposition on illegal gambling.

The former Roma and Paris Saint-Germain player had already given a full deposition to the public prosecutor in Turin last month.

In that meeting, he told the investigators that while he did gamble using illegal sites on games of chance like roulette and blackjack, he never placed bets on sporting events.

If confirmed, that would see him receive a fine, but no further punishment on a sporting level.

However, La Repubblica claim that today Florenzi was spotted at the Federation Prosecutor’s office to speak with Giuseppe Chinè.

This would suggest that perhaps Florenzi has other information that is of interest to the FIGC, but not to the civil courts.

It could be knowledge of other players who gambled or there might be more evidence that has emerged requiring clarification.

Nonetheless, the same report assures that Florenzi does not risk a ban and is not discussing any kind of plea bargain.

While it is against the rules for any professional football player to gamble, the punishment is far harsher for betting on sporting events.
