Milan have reportedly made no progress after today’s meeting with Club Brugge for Charles De Ketelaere, so the situation drags on.

The player would prefer the Rossoneri, whereas the Belgian team are hoping to get €37m for the creative midfielder, which is being offered by Leeds United.

Negotiations have carried on for weeks and there had been hopes the deal would be done today, but Calciomercato.com warn the latest meeting again failed to achieve a breakthrough.

Club Brugge still want more money, as Milan have made a bid of €30m plus €5m in add-ons.

Another encounter is expected tomorrow, but the Rossoneri are so far refusing to increase that proposal any more.

The report suggests if Club Brugge do not lower their demands, Milan will change to a different target.

The 21-year-old has probably already made his last appearance for Club Brugge, as he was left on the bench for the full 90 minutes of last night’s Super Cup win over Gent.

Milan had been hoping to have the Belgium international in Italy for a medical this week.

  1. I can see this deal falling through. Its similar to the Sven Botman scenario. Milan need to be more flexible in negotiations. Meet Club Brugge demands and close the dam deal! You can’t say that our aspirations are to return to European Elite levels and then have a budget so rigid you can never attract Elite Level players. As a Milan fan I’m getting annoyed with the lack of progress going forward. Pay Leao and Bennacer what they deserve and close the deals for CFK and Sanches. Make a statement of intent cos so far I see nothing but a lack of flexibility in negotiation and no progress as far as rewarding our current players with new contracts.

  2. Milan management are funny, pay those that gave us joy& happiness last season, remember our rivals has big names on the signing we are yet to make anyone, look for free players right?
Just too bad for a giant like us

  3. Will this saga ever come to an end. Why is Milan battling to close one decent deal this summer. What about Lang, he is a cheaper option and just as creative player. Every player we have pursued moves on to another team, something is amiss in our negotiations.

  4. It seems like we go into every negotiation hoping that it will fall through just so we can say we tried. We know the targets, the price and the competition, something doesn’t add up, why can’t we close a couple of quality deals to fill important roles then move on to secondary targets? An extra few millions won’t get in the way of a giant with such ambitions, if Roma can afford Dybala then why can’t we with our CL spot and Scudetto. It’s starting to look like someone is afraid of progress, is this just another shady move by Elliott to bankrupt another investor and on to the next?

  5. @ACM too much speculations there. I think much of our frustation in closing the deal is on how prices in football market has explode these days. Not only players, clubs and agents try to take as much money as they can out from a deal. Milan is competing with Leeds, in respect that Leeds doesn’t have that big club reputation as Milan does, they do have more money to spend compare to Milan. This is how Serie A has fallen compare to other league. A change has to be made not only from the clubs and player, but also in system and infrastructure. There is no secret why EPL clubs have much more money than Serie A clubs, but even so, the government took ages to approve new stadium for both Milan clubs. This is unaffordable if Serie A want to compete in highest football prestige. There is no way Milan can afford an auction competing with Leeds in this case.

As for Dybala, giving him 6M euros with a clause 20M next year is a desperate move by Roma. Milan is doing smart investment for the long run, better to spend the money in younger players that have more potential and value. Besides, giving a new player 6M euros will make other Milan players feels their contribution is not appreciated. It’s a circle of satan.
