Milan are stepping up their pursuit of Santos striker Kaio Jorge after interest from Juventus and Napoli, but the reported formal offer is still well below the €10m asking price.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Rossoneri have made a formal offer of €6m, including performance-related bonuses and add-ons.

Santos are asking for at least €10m, but are in a tricky position, seeing as the 19-year-old’s contract with them is due to expire in December 2021.

It is because of that situation that Milan hope they can whittle down the cost of the operation, raising the threat his club could lose him as a free agent.

There is another potential pitfall, as it’s reported the player’s entourage are pushing for up to €5m in commission to broker the deal.

Director Paolo Maldini is determined to bring Kaio Jorge to San Siro, where Brazilians in the past have flourished, such as Ricky Kaka and Alexandre Pato.

He would also be an extra young forward to unite with veterans Olivier Giroud and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Napoli have long been interested in Kaio Jorge, but never stepped up with a formal offer, while Juventus have recently joined the race.
