Milan’s injury crisis in defence is getting worse, as Jherson Vergara is out for at least a month after dislocating his shoulder.

The young Colombian defender suffered the setback during the Audi Cup 1-0 win over Sao Paulo on Thursday afternoon.

Milan released a statement confirming Vergara has dislocated his left shoulder and has returned to Italy for specialist treatment.

Professor Alessandro Castagna advised against surgery, so Vergara will wear a protective cast for 15 days.

The club doctors expect a return to the team in around a month, save complications.

It is another heavy blow for the Rossoneri, who are already without the injured Daniele Bonera, Philippe Mexes, Mattia De Sciglio, Ignazio Abate, Riccardo Montolivo, Mario Balotelli and Robinho.

They signed Matias Silvestre on loan from Inter to fill in for Bonera, who is out for three months with a fractured kneecap.
