Milan are reportedly eager to bring Bryan Cristante back to San Siro from Roma this summer, as his past in their youth academy would have extra benefits.

With Franck Kessie leaving as a free agent, seemingly with an agreement already in place for a transfer to Barcelona, and Tiemoue Bakayoko returned from his loan to Chelsea, the Rossoneri need to revamp their midfield.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, one of their main candidates is Cristante, who is under contract with Roma until June 2024.

The 27-year-old joined the Giallorossi in 2018 from Atalanta for a total cost of €27m, having previously also played for Benfica, Palermo and Pescara.

Cristante was a Milan youth team product who was sold to Benfica in 2014 for €5.2m plus a percentage of any future deal.

It is the fact he came through the Milan academy that makes him particularly attractive, as rules in Serie A and the Champions League increasingly try to encourage more homegrown players in the squads.

The Gazzetta maintain that Roma would be prepared to listen to offers around €25m and Cristante would be intrigued to play in the Champions League.

7 thought on “Milan look to Roma midfielder Cristante”
  1. Agree with Milan Fan – Pessina has done well this past couple of years

If this is true that Milan are looking in Cristante’s direction, then I think we can guarantee the club is not going to have new owners. Signing Cristante would be a budget-move instead of a quality move. He’s not terrible, but I don’t see him making the team any better than they are now.

  2. Between Krunic and Cristante, I prefer Rade hands down. Cristante is a nobody who has not excelled in any place: not at Milan, Atalanta or even Roma where he is not even a starter. He is a team player. I don’t see Milan rebuying him, zero sense and I don’t think Pioli wants him. If Pobega returns and Adli also come since he is already a Milanisti, don’t see a place for this guy

  3. FANTASIA ITALIA!!!!!

(Renato Sanches about to sign, Adli already joining next season, and even Pobega with a leg sawed off offers more than this clown)

This kid should have declared to Canada. He does not belong in Serie A or anywhere within 1000 miles of the NT.

  4. Milan have done well with average players but with two seasons in the champions League tone for a step up in quality

    Dybala and Darwin Nunez needed

Defense is very good, midfield will have also and Sanchez so two above and that’s a good team.
