While Milan slam the door in his face and West Ham United continue talks, it’s now reported Bayern Munich have approached Julen Lopetegui.

The former Spain, Sevilla and Wolves coach seems to be in an odd position, as he is linked with numerous top clubs and yet large sections of the fans are protesting his potential appointment.

Milan had been seemingly on the verge of striking a deal with Lopetegui and even had a contract ready when fans virulently rejected the idea with a petition and a social media campaign based on the #Nopetegui hashtag.

That prompted the club owners to pause and then turn elsewhere, reportedly infuriating Lopetegui, who felt disrespected.

Bayern Munich call Lopetegui

West Ham remained in talks and now Sky Sports Deutschland claim that Bayern Munich have asked about Lopetegui as well, although the 57-year-old is only one of numerous options for them.

They had initially been going for Ralf Rangnick, another coach who a few years ago was all set for Milan until they pulled the plug due to an angry reaction from supporters.

Lopetegui is currently out of work, having left Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2023.
