Milan have excluded Luka Romero, Marco Pellegrino and Ismael Bennacer from their Champions League squad list, but brought in Luka Jovic and Yacine Adli.

The Rossoneri reached the semi-finals of the tournament last season, losing to local rivals Inter in a Derby della Madonnina.

They have been placed in an extremely tough group this time around with Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle United.

Coach Stefano Pioli has been forced to make some cuts to the group, leaving out defender Pellegrino, striker Romero and injured midfielder Bennacer.

However, there is room for deadline day signing Jovic from Fiorentina, as well as midfielder Adli and defender Mattia Caldara, who have barely been on the outskirts of Pioli’s plans this term.

Caldara is particularly important for Milan’s list because he is one of the only players who came up through an Italian youth academy, specifically Atalanta.

The UEFA rules mean each club has to include at least four players who are homegrown.

Milan’s Champions League list: Maignan, Sportiello, Mirante, Chukwueze, Giroud, Hernandez, Kalulu, Kjaer, Krunic, Leao, Loftus-Cheek, Musah, Okafor, Pulisic, Reijnders, Thiaw, Tomori, Caldara, Florenzi, Calabria, Pobega, Adli e Jovic.
