Milan leave Botman to Newcastle, turn to Bremer

Milan have reportedly given up on Lille defender Sven Botman after Newcastle United practically doubled their offer, so are turning to Torino’s Gleison Bremer, who seems closer to Inter.

The hunt for a new centre-back to replace Alessio Romagnoli continues, but despite the takeover from Red Bird, the Rossoneri are still not going to go overboard with their investments.

They will continue to keep a fairly strict hold of the purse-strings and that means not getting fleeced for Botman, as their offer won’t go above €30m.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Newcastle United are raising their bid from €45m to €55m and Milan aren’t going to be dragged into a bidding war.

Instead, they are turning towards their Plan B, Torino centre-back Bremer, who was voted best defender in Serie A this season.

The Brazilian is available for €25-30m, a figure that could be lowered with the inclusion of Tommaso Pobega, the midfielder who spent this term on loan with Toro.

However, Sportitalia continue to insist Bremer has his heart set on Inter and has given his word to them.

Other interested parties in Bremer are Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus and Chelsea.
