Milan have reportedly given up on Lille defender Sven Botman after Newcastle United practically doubled their offer, so are turning to Torino’s Gleison Bremer, who seems closer to Inter.

The hunt for a new centre-back to replace Alessio Romagnoli continues, but despite the takeover from Red Bird, the Rossoneri are still not going to go overboard with their investments.

They will continue to keep a fairly strict hold of the purse-strings and that means not getting fleeced for Botman, as their offer won’t go above €30m.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Newcastle United are raising their bid from €45m to €55m and Milan aren’t going to be dragged into a bidding war.

Instead, they are turning towards their Plan B, Torino centre-back Bremer, who was voted best defender in Serie A this season.

The Brazilian is available for €25-30m, a figure that could be lowered with the inclusion of Tommaso Pobega, the midfielder who spent this term on loan with Toro.

However, Sportitalia continue to insist Bremer has his heart set on Inter and has given his word to them.

Other interested parties in Bremer are Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus and Chelsea.

10 thought on “Milan leave Botman to Newcastle, turn to Bremer”
  1. Neither Botman nor Bremmer. Tomori-Kalulu, and Kjaer-Gabbia-Caldara backups. Come on guys, don’t waste money on defence, we need attackers. Get a grip!!

  2. What? 55m?

Yeah forget about it. Have fun in Newcastle. Maybe he plays in the CL in the next 5 to 6 years. Sign Bremer if you can, otherwise just forget about it. Continue with Kalulu and Tomori and sign another bench player (like Viti maybe?)

We should focus on our attacking department.

  3. This is why this morning, on the L’Equipe article about Milan being in the lead for Sanches and Botman, I said, “wake me up when something actually happens.” This stuff is so fluid and most reports are speculative rubbish and nothing more.

Milan won’t be buying anyone north of €30-35m, so when bids come on above that you can basically count out the Rossoneri.

  4. So Bremer is only a plan B for that Batman dude? Yes that will be an easy negotiation. Bremer, come to Milan, you are wanted because Milan can’t get their main CB target. Very convincing

  5. @ahmed no one at Milan has said that so at the end is all speculation. When you read that Maldini said “Botman is lost so we are going for Bremer” let me know. Mercato is older than sheet, let’s not try to fool people, we all know how this works…

  6. Stupidest strategy ever. We along with Napoli conceeded the least amount of goals in the season. And we were approx 20 goals less than what Inter scored. You don’t have to be very smart to know what should be the focus. Bring in attacker/creative midfielders…. defence is solid.

  7. Kjear will need time after a long lay off, League, CL and stuff, injury and suspension will surface, then what you gonna do? Play Kalulu and Gabbia? We are no more a suprise team, we aiming for higher step in the CL and we are going to be defending the scudetto, therefore another defender is paramount

  8. At least Kalulu and Tomori are solid, at least the defence is already not fractured.
Attacking Mid, strikers and RW is where we really need to prioritise. Dropping €25-30 mil in a position which is not urgent is mind boggling. Need to get the weak positions filled first.

  9. Bremer would be a great investment for the future if he’s available for 25-30mn. Kjaer is aging and probably won’t be a starter every game. Kalulu can be rotated with Calabria in RB.

  10. Milan proved this season that’s attacks win games while defenses win scudetto. Getting a replacement for Romagnoli is certainly importantly given we’ll be aiming to play more games in both CL and Coppa than we did this year.
