[et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text”]Franck Kessié will miss the pre-season with Milan as he’s been included in the Ivory Coast squad for the Tokyo Olympics, while contract talks with the Rossoneri stall.

The tournament kicks off on July 22 against Saudi Arabia, then Brazil on July 25 and Germany on July 28, with the Final set for August 7.

Kessié has been included in the squad as one of the overage players available, so he will miss the pre-season with Milan that starts on July 8, while Serie A begins on August 22.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Kessié informed the club after a meeting with the U23 Ivory Coast national team Patrice Beaumelle.

The Rossoneri would never prevent the player from participating in the competition but are aware the 24-year-old will once again leave in January to participate in the African Cup of Nations.

According to the report, Milan are ‘not concerned’ with Kessié’s participation in the Olympic games and the player won’t have extra days of holidays after the competition.

The former Atalanta man will return to Milan after the end of the Olympic games.

In the meantime, the Rossoneri have offered the player a new €4m-a-year contract to extend his contract beyond June 2022.

However, according to the pink paper, Kessié wants €6m and there are no meetings scheduled with his agent in the near future.

Arsenal are reportedly interested in Kessié, but the Diavoli don’t want to see the 24-year-old walk away from the club as a free agent next year, as it happened with Gigio Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu.[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column]
