Many are calling for Stefano Pioli to be sacked after Milan’s disappointing loss to Borussia Dortmund, but the club have not lost faith in the coach.

The Rossoneri have almost no hope of qualifying for the Round of 16 of the competition after their 3-1 loss to Dortmund on Tuesday night, a result that leaves them bottom of Group F after five games. The club need to beat Newcastle and hope the German side beat Paris Saint-Germain to progress.

Milan have now won just two games in their last eight outings between Serie A and the Champions League, a run that has worn down supporters and started to turn the tide against Pioli.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport via Calciomercato.com, Milan CEO Gerry Cardinale has not returned to the United States yet, staying in the Lombardy capital to complete some work with the club. A new meeting with Zlatan Ibrahimovic regarding his return could be held.

CEO Giorgio Furlani will have a meeting with Pioli and the squad at Milanello, but there are no doubts regarding the coach’s future at the helm.

The Rossoneri management still believe in Pioli and the hope is that he can start quickly turning things around after the disappointing run.
