Milan continue their search for a midfielder and the latest candidate is Nottingham Forest’s Brazilian Danilo, who could be purchased for under €25m.

New coach Paulo Fonseca needs reinforcements in the middle of the park and the summer has dragged on with negotiations for AS Monaco man Youssouf Fofana and Borussia Monchengladbach player Manu Koné.

The problem is the cost of both is hovering around the €30m mark and Milan do not seem prepared to pay more than €25m including add-ons.

According to transfer expert Matteo Moretto, the Rossoneri have been in contact with Nottingham Forest over the last few days to ask after Danilo.

The Brazilian turned 23 in April and was purchased from Palmeiras in January 2023 for €20m.

Under contract until June 2029, he made 34 competitive appearances for Nottingham Forest last season, scoring three goals and providing two assists, helping the team to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Moretto maintains the deal can be done for under €25m, with Milan expected to ask for a loan with option to buy at the end of the season.
