Liverpool Gerrard said Inter‘s penalty kick against Milan should have stood, and fans on Twitter were not impressed.

Spanish referee Jesus Gil Manzano had awarded a spot kick to the Nerazzurri in the first half of the Champions League semi-final first leg on Wednesday, but quickly changed his mind after a VAR check.

The replays showed that Lautaro had lost his footing so a penalty kick against the Rossoneri could have been a little too harsh.

Liverpool legend Gerrard did not agree with Manzano and insisted the penalty kick should have stood.

The 2005 Champions League winner was one of the pundits on BT Sport last night and said: “Technically the penalty should have stood.”

Fans were not impressed and most of them criticised the ex-midfielder on Twitter. “What are the pundits on about?” asked one user. “These pundits are promoting diving. Football has completely lost its integrity,” argued another one.

Lautaro did not get a yellow card after the VAR check despite protests from Milan players.
