There was bad news for Milan this evening, as during their pre-season friendly away to Vicenza, Sandro Tonali limped off with an apparent groin or adductor strain.

The midfielder slipped and over-extended at the dawn of the second half at the Stadio Romeo Menti.

He immediately stopped, touched the inside of his left leg and looked very irritated.

Tonali did not even wait for the medical staff to have a look, he just walked off the field and straight towards the locker room.

With a week to go until the opening Serie A match against Udinese, it’s very likely Tonali will not be ready to feature in that match.

It is a worry, especially as Olivier Giroud, Divock Origi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were also not involved in today’s pre-season friendly due to muscular issues.

Tonali was one of the key figures in the Scudetto-winning campaign and has been suggested as a future captain.

6 thought on “Milan injury scare as Tonali limps off”
  1. Oh great! Season hasn’t even begun and we’re having injuries. I hope it’s nothing serious.

  2. And at the same times the reports that Bennacer could leave are growing…holy, let’s hope that management brings some reinforcements in the midfield

  3. Liverpool wants to buy Bennacer for 40M. That’s too low. Milan won’t sell him this summer below 60M at least. Plus his contract runs till 2024 so we can sell him in the next summer or extend.
It is frustrating that Premier League teams start thinking they can use us as a FARM.
As for the Tonali injury, Pobega will start in his place. Injuries are part of football. We had a lot of them the past 2 seasons and we still did reasonably well.
