Milan resume training after the break for international duty and face an injury crisis going into crunch games against Empoli, Chelsea and Juventus.

The Rossoneri have given those returning from the Nations League matches an extra 24 hours to rest before attending the Milanello training ground.

The break has certainly not been kind to Stefano Pioli, who saw Mike Maignan ruled out for a month by a calf strain he sustained playing for France, while Theo Hernandez also left early with a muscular issue.

Theo Hernandez is showing improvements and is hoping to make his comeback against Juventus next week, or even for a role on the bench in the Champions League with Chelsea.

Alessandro Florenzi and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are also long-term absentees.

The good news for Pioli is that Sandro Tonali is working separately from the rest of the squad, but should be available to play against Empoli on Saturday.

The same is true of Ante Rebic and Divock Origi, who have barely featured this season due to recurring setbacks.

Davide Calabria is training with the full squad after picking up a muscular problem during the Serie A defeat to Napoli.
