The mystery over Milan’s meeting with Real Madrid rumbles on as they are now being linked with Marco Asensio, Mateo Kovacic and Martin Odegaard.

Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban travelled to Madrid on Wednesday, for what was described as a ‘blitz’ with Blancos supremo Jose Angel Sanchez.

It is not clear who they were targeting, with Dani Ceballos, Borja Mayoral and even Isco reported to be in the pair’s sights.

However, Corriere dello Sport believes the Rossoneri enquired about the Spain winger and former Inter midfielder.

Madrid need to sell players after a €303m splurge on the likes of Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic, and Asensio and Kovacic are both deemed expendable.

Gazzetta dello Sport, meanwhile, writes Maldini and Boban asked about Norwegian talent Odegaard, who is valued at €30m.

“The trip went well. We always have good news for Giampaolo and we’re optimistic about this Milan,” the legendary defender told Sky Sport Italia.

Il Corriere also claims Milan explored potential deals for surplus stoppers Nacho Fernandez and Sergio Reguilon, whereas La Gazzetta counters Theo Hernandez was the defensive option they looked at.
