Milan are ready to take a step forward for a new defender and have been in close contact with the agents of Sevilla talent Tanguy Nianzou.

The Rossoneri have been hampered by numerous injuries this term, heavily reducing the options available to coach Stefano Pioli. Three defenders are currently sidelined with physical issues – Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu and Malick Thiaw.

Milan have been fairly quiet in the January transfer window, only investing €4.5m in right back Filippo Terracciano. They also brought back Mattia Gabbia from his loan spell at Villarreal in order to add some cover at the back.

As reported by TMW, Milan are interested in making a move for Nianzou and held talks with his entourage over the weekend, trying to explore a mid-season move.

The 21-year-old French centre back has hardly featured this term, playing just four La Liga matches due to a frustrating hamstring injury. A product of Paris Saint-Germain’s youth system, Nianzou joined Sevilla from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022 for €16m.
