According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan are in advanced talks to sign Domenico Berardi from Sassuolo.

The Serie A giants are on the lookout for a new right winger and Berardi is among their priorities for 2022-23. Sassuolo’s asking price is circa €30m and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan are in advanced talks with the Neroverdi.

Berardi will turn 28 in August and is ready to take a step forward in his career, joining a top club. He has reached double figures for goals and assists in Serie A this season and the Neroverdi are prepared to part ways with their star in the summer.

Both Elliott and Investcorp, who are in talks to acquire the club, see Berardi as an ideal reinforcement for 2022-23, so Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have already begun negotiations with Sassuolo. Berardi’s teammate Gianluca Scamacca is also a target for next season.

If Investcorp completes the club’s takeover, Berardi could be only one of the big names moving to the Stadio Meazza as Riyad Mahrez, Renato Sanches and Sebastian Haller have also been linked with a summer transfer to Milanello.

Sven Botman and Divock Origi are close to joining the Rossoneri. The Lille defender has agreed personal terms with the Serie A giants, while Origi is expected to shake hands with Milan over the next few weeks ahead of a free transfer from Liverpool.

  1. @ Rosario How do you know?

He’s won the European Championship and scored a penalty in the shoot out.
He then choked a few times in the World Cup qualifiers.

So which is he? Who knows? There’s so much random luck and other variables in football we simply have no way of knowing anything really.

Why does Immobile struggle for Italy and not for Lazio even when faced with the exact same chance? Are Northern Ireland better than Milan?

Nothing makes sense. If it did football wound’t be so difficult.

  2. What we do know is that Milan are weak on the right side, Berardi plays in that position, has lots of Serie A experience, and could, maybe, if the stars align become a top player. More players have performed better under Pioli than not. Most of Maldini & Co’s signings have been successful than not. So I think we give them the benefit of the doubt. I’m ok with signings in positions we need. And I’m excited about an Italian and someone who quite like as a player and a person so why not? Let’s get excited as we have no idea really.

  3. No no.

Berardi is not the quality Milan need right now.

If the project is to qualify for Champions League always then he is good enough.

But, if the project is become competitative and win trophies then he is not the quality needed by Milan.

From the performances in the champions League this season Milan are simply unlucky and proved to be ready to compete with quality additions not Berardi type of signing

  4. Mahrez is an elite level player of course. Berardi is not. Berardi is good but definitely not elite so comparison between Mahrez and Berardi is not fair. If you guys saw the match yesterday we can see that Mahrez was one of the protagonists there, not sure if I can see Berardi being that.
Having said that, I’m half sure about this move. Perhaps its just PTSD from Suso, Borini, Honda, Castillejo, Saelemaekers etc etc.

  5. He’s no world-beater, but he’s better than what they have.

And Italian clubs need to be signing players that improve them. If they do that, they’re going in the right direction.

  6. You just look at his statistics (Berardi) in the last few years . He has Serie A experience and I don ‘t think he would ask for a salary higher than some others would ask for ! He plays for the national team, and I believe he’s better than our wingers combined. Mahrez is a great player, but he has too many years and a huge salary at City! I don’t think that’s a realistic transfer

  7. We’re not getting Mahrez. That story makes no sense to no one but clickbait writers. Berardi will do although that price is fairly high. Surely Scamacca is the more important target.

  8. Mahrez is on 11m Euro a year. Why would he leave the Prem, which is stronger than Serie A, join a team that will pay him significantly less, and lose the chance to win the Champions League. Id love to see him join Milan, but it wont happen and Berradi is a good, and more cost effective alternative. Same with Stirling who earns more.

  9. singing berardi is ok because his not a long term plan. marhrez is too expensive and not a long term plan. berardi can give us 2 to 3 good seasons if not injured. then milan will get a younger player in France. saccamaca is a good addition to the young attacker.

  10. After Giampaolo and Pioli, another Interista at Milan?

Let`s see how this works out. However, if they really get the transfer kitty, they could aim higher.

  11. My fair is that Beradi is 28….I thought we should go for a young version of Beradi. If Beradi is not more than 15M with some bonus , we can go for him. Otherwise, let’s go for a younger winger.

  12. My only reservation is paying 30m for a 28 y/o, but I guess that’s better than paying 40m for a 31 y/o.

  13. Berardi any day of the year. When he is on form, the player is unstoppable. Milan are correct to try to sign him. By moving to Milan, he will also have Champions League experience. It is a win win situation for club, player and Nazionale.

  14. What I think we can all agree on is that he’s 2-3 levels above Saladknackers right now so deffo an upgrade.

  15. Whatever guys.
Getting Berardi is still an upgrade to what we have in the right wing.
Anyone here still believe we can compete with Mesias and Saelemakers?

  16. Berardi is good – euro cup winner. Inter fans here posting BS but they know in reality that Milan will be a much stronger team next season while inter will be weaker since they are broke and will sell their stars in the summer. Berardi is much much better player than Hakan the clown.

  17. IMHO, he is a perfect fit for ACM. He would bring what this team miss most-creativity in the final third, Hope we will eventually sign him.

  18. The man has a 29 direct goal contribution in 29 Serie A matches this season and he’s no one season wonder. Even playing for Italy, the team failed but he was the brightest one. He tried the hardest and at least came close on a few occasions.

And people doubt his quality?! What more do you need him to do? Never mind his nationality and wages, show me someone with better statistics.

  19. @Maldini’s Heir

Always enjoy your comments, and you are again right, although you do seem to be having somewhat of an existential crisis. How can we know or speculate about anything indeed?

Berardi seems like the best bet for Milan‘s most problematic position to me, but then, do I even exist???

  20. @Rosario, spelling was entirely intentional. Maybe a bit of a colloquialism but look up ‘knackers’ pal.

  21. I could see Berardi and Marhez joining with the money thus take over will bring. We could see Messias and Salemakers leave if that’s the case.
