According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan have identified Roma midfielder Jordan Veretout as their main alternative to Renato Sanches.

The Portugal international is Milan’s primary target to replace Franck Kessié who is expected to leave the Stadio Meazza at the end of his contract in the summer.

Milan made a late bid to sign Sanches in the winter transfer window but had not enough time to negotiate with Lille. Sanches seems keen to join the Rossoneri, but it remains to be seen if the Serie A giants will match his salary demands over the summer.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Bayern Munich starlet is not Milan’s only target. The Rossoneri are also interested in Roma’s Jordan Veretout, who has fallen down the pecking order under José Mourinho this term.

Roma’s asking price for the France international is €20m, but the player’s price tag could further decrease over the next few months, especially if the former Fiorentina man won’t play consistently.

Tottenham had also been linked with the 28-year-old in January, but Spurs eventually singed Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus.

  1. @milanfan
Dont you worry well get Sanches!! I 100% sure of it.
Just by looking at his Instagram profile hes already joined us haha

  2. Milan should attempt to get Sergi Roberto on a free in the summer, if he doesn’t re-sign for Barcelona.

Milan need about three players with CL experience to help the younger and inexperienced players settle into European competition and Sergi Roberto on a free is an amazing opportunity. I have always rated him highly; he has never been given the due recognition for his part in that team.

  3. What? Sergi Roberto of all people?! Jesus Christ …

I mean unless you’re his cousin or something I don’t understand it at all.

  4. Renato Sanchez would be a like a signing Milan made 2-3 years ago like Leao, Theo & Bennacer whereas Veretout would be like a signing from last summer’s terrible market. Hope they’ve learned their lesson.

  5. @Greg, by last summer’s terrible market you mean the one we spent 30m to make Tomori permanent, renegotiated Tonali’s deal to reduce the cost from like 35m to 15, and bought Maignan? Some people say the dumbest things.

  6. Veretout Ok!

Notable Suggestions: Razvan Marin, Gianluca Busio, Fabian Ruiz, Sasa Lukic, Nicola Dominguez, Ivan Illic, Tolgan Arslan, Walace or Alessandro Deiola.

  7. I would not be surprised by such a mover, but this is what Milan have to deal with today given the fact that they have no money. Rube and Inter will only leave them further behind as they are sure to bolster their squads again come summer.

  8. @Angelo. Rube and Inter are not working under the constraints of an FFP agreement. I feel like I need to repeat this every other day. WE ARE STILL UNDER MONITORING AND IF WE VIOLATE THE AGREEMENT WILL GET BANNED FROM EUROPEAN COMPETITION (again).
