Milan have dropped a hint that not only will Zlatan Ibrahimovic have his first start in over a year, he’ll also get a debut as captain and will be the oldest Rossoneri player to wear the armband.

The game with Udinese kicks off at the Dacia Arena at 19.45 GMT.

With Olivier Giroud suspended, Junior Messias injured and Theo Hernandez at home suffering from flu symptoms, while Davide Calabria is not expected to start, that removes a few options to lead the team out as captain.

It had already been practically confirmed that Ibrahimovic would be getting his first start since January 2022, but a picture on Milan’s social media accounts suggests he will also be the captain.

This is his second stint with the Diavolo, making 162 competitive appearances for the club, but he has never been captain from the opening minute.

If this is the case, then the 41-year-old will also become Milan’s oldest ever starting captain in Serie A.
