Alberto Aquilani has a contract lined up at Milan, claim newspapers, but only after he has terminated his deal with Liverpool.

The former Roma midfielder was signed by Liverpool for £17m in 2009, but has struggled with injuries, form and homesickness.

He spent last season on loan at Juventus and this term at Milan, but neither club was willing to pay the buy-out clause for a permanent switch.

It’s reported in Italy that the Rossoneri are only prepared to take Aquilani on a free transfer, so will wait for him to terminate his contract with Liverpool by mutual consent.

His contract runs until June 2014 and the Corriere dello Sport claims Aquilani wants €3.5m to end it early.
