Milan might finally have a breakthrough to reinforce their defence, as it’s reported Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to let Japhet Tanganga leave on loan.

The 23-year-old Londoner is a product of the Spurs youth academy and was promoted to the senior squad in January 2020.

He has 23 Premier League appearances under his belt and can play as a centre-back or a right-back.

According to Milan transfer expert Daniele Longo, there were two important developments today.

The first is that Tanganga rejected a move to Bournemouth, while the second is that Tottenham are now prepared to let him leave on loan without an obligation to buy.

That is excellent news for Milan, who want a low-cost and young addition to the defence, in the mould of fellow Englishman Fikayo Tomori.

This is because while Alessio Romagnoli has left as a free agent to join Lazio, it is also true that Simon Kjaer is on his way back after missing most of last season through injury.

  1. Pathetic, piss off maldini you muppet, he is too obsessed with foreign rubbish, serie clubs are pure filth, italian traitors

  2. @ Joke of a league

You are a joke of a person. If the league is a joke then stop following it and shut your trap before disrespecting Maldini or any other club’s manager for that matter.

    Clown.

  3. Accept being a crap league then, you italian fans are deluded as hell, you have all accepted mediocrity, Tanganga? You can have him, Milan fans will defend maldini no matter what he does hahahaha, weak idiots

  4. @joke of a league
If Maldini is a muppet, then I don’t know what you are.
We can comments thing without any insult or discredit football figures such as Maldini.
He already overachieved with bringing players like Theo, Tomori, Kalulu, Maignan etc.
Players that have been overlooked from other league and proof their capabilities in Serie A.

It’s a common practice to look to other league players since clubs will only sell higher price to another club in the same league.
Look at the price of Zaniolo, It’s insane to give 60M price tag for a player that has injuries like him.

Milan at the present is not Milan in Berlusconi era, lower budget and different policy in getting young players to develop.
Maldini already said it years ago, don’t expect big stars like in Berlu era.

  5. Milan won the league fairly last year based on merit. All the more remarkable as Juve and Inter have bigger squads and wages. How many top Italian clubs are going with young Italians? Exactly none. This issue has been going on for decades and it is Italy after all. However look at England. How many home grown coaches and players are there in the top teams? Exactly none or very few. Tanganga could be a smart move. If Conte wants established players, Milan is a perfect place for the young man to grow. Maldini and co are doing the right thing. Money is not there to splash and Red Bird will not be buying the club until September. Milan are still on a growth path and I would rather have a soundly run club then one that is going to lead to bankruptcy.

  6. Completely agree with Glenn and square. A lo.an is definitely the best option. If he works out, great. If not, send him back to Spurs. It also saves funds which should really be focused in midfield and attacking positions. Our defence is the best part of the team, this guy will be a squad option and can fill in at full back. Could be another smart signing.

  7. Joke of a league i guess the overspending the premier league just turns you on.. right.. Which premier league club matches Ac Milan status?

  8. You lot are all missing the point, I’m not talking about overspending, are you all thick? I’m talking about lack of italian players, you can yourselves italian fans? Weak traitors you all are

  9. Why is this clown not being censored?
“Joke of a league” is obviously simple. Ignore “it” and hopefully “it” goes away.
Italy just won the euros and is tied for the second most successful nation in the world.

  10. Thats right @Forza Seria A, sensor people who you disagree with. Now back to your WEF forum.

  11. Thats right @Forza Seria A, censor people who you disagree with. Now back to your WEF forum.

  12. Joke of a league clearly doesn’t know football nor does he know strategy, it’s funny he talks all this crap about Italian clubs but he should go see the stats how many italian teams have won the CL vs other leagues, how many cities can boost both rivals have won the biggest prize in European football? Go look at the stats about balón d’or winners more have come out of Italian league only 2nd to la liga. The Italian team won the euros and for me are the most successful European side as our head to head against Germany is a lot better than their record against us. I’m not even Italian but I can understand that much!

  13. I think what JOKE is trying to say (not so eloquently) is that Italian clubs should be reinforcing Italian youth/talent as there is a heavy foreign presence in the league already as opposed to bringing in more foreign players. I would like to see more Italians playing for Milan, but there is simply not enough quality yet.

  14. I totally agree with joke of a league. There are too many mediocre players in the league. Milan brought Bakayoko to the team and sent Pobega to Torino is a obvious example of being obsessed with foreign player.

  15. Maldini & Co have got most of their decisions right but I really don’t understand this desperately seeking a CB when we have 4. We must have such little faith in Gabbia which can hardly be good for his confidence. Could imagine your employer scrambling around to find a replacement for you? Only in football.

  16. We can’t go through the whole season with just 4 defenders, let alone one has just recovered from a very serious injury.

And who’s to say that Gabbia won’t make a breakthrough next season? He was above Kalulu in the pecking order last season but when Kalulu was given a chance, he delivered and left Gabbia (and even Romagnoli) in the dust. Gabbia needs to do the same next season. We’re all rooting for him but he also needs to deliver.

  17. @ Bunga2 We have Kalulu, Tomori, Kjaer and Gabbia (the same 4 that basically just won us the title by conceding very few goals). We won the champions league in 94, 04 and 07 with “just” 4 defenders. The key to any defence is familiarity and you don’t get that rotating defences. And how is Gabbia supposed to get a game as 5th choice?

  18. I think Tanganga could be a smart piece of business for Milan especially if there is an option but and no obligation to buy.

We all agree that Milan need a bigger and better squad to compete in Champions League and to defend their league title.

Tanganga showed promise under Jose at Tottenham and if we can shape him into another Tomori (or beyond) great.

  19. Forza Milan.
We will be praying in the champions league this coming season and the team naturally requires an injection of fresh legs to boost the team overall performance. Maldini and co have done a great job this far and we should commend their resolve. I agree there’s a need to encourage homegrown players, we have a handful of them and need to encourage more.

  20. @Maldini Heir: Yes, but by then we’re already out of CL and Copa. Of course if we’re only competing in 1 competition, 4 is plenty.

However, next season is tricky, some players would be off to the World Cup in the middle of the season, 4 is stretching VERY THIN in case some injury occurs and we don’t even know how fit would Kjaer be.

  21. @ Maldini’s Heir

Football was very different back in the 80s and 90s. You can’t keep bringing that up to prove your points. Teams weren’t playing so many matches in a season and players didn’t suffer so many injuries either. Going into a season with 5 center-backs when you need to play more than 50 games is just common sense. I like Gabbia and he was better two years ago but last year he did cost us a few points. Sending him on l*o*a*n to play might not be such a bad idea for him either.

Now to the issue of Italian youngsters, who wouldn’t love that? I would and you can bet Maldini does too, but when an up and coming Italian youngster like Scamacca has a price tag of 50m and that’s practically your whole budget, you naturally look elsewhere. De Ketelaere is a talent with more potential than many Italian youngsters around at the moment and he costs 30m. What would you do as a manager?
