Rafael Leao’s latest medical tests confirmed the Milan star no longer has a lesion in his thigh, so he will be available against Newcastle next week.

The Portuguese star has been out of action for nearly a month due to a muscle injury in his thigh but is set to return to the pitch soon.

Sky Sport Italia reports the latest medical tests undergone by Leao on Tuesday morning highlighted that the Portuguese forward has finally recovered from his injury. There is no more lesion in his thigh, so the 24-year-old will gradually return to training at Milanello, increasing the workload over the next few days.

According to the report, Leao remains in doubt for the upcoming Serie A fixture between Milan and Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium on Saturday but will be available on Wednesday next week when the Rossoneri travel to Newcastle for the final Champions League group stage game.

The Serie A giants must beat the Magpies and hope Borussia Dortmund beat PSG at home to qualify for the Round of 16.
