Reports on Sunday morning suggest that Paulo Fonseca is currently in pole position to become head coach of Milan for the 2024-25 campaign, and if he were to be appointed, he could also potentially help Milan close their hunt for a new centre-forward.

As per Calciomercato.com, Fonseca, who is currently busy trying to secure a spot in the Champions League for 2024-25 with Ligue 1 side Lille, is the name at the top of the Rossoneri list.

Julen Lopetegui had been sounded out, before being rejected by the club’s supporters, Thiago Motta had been looked at, but he looks more likely to join Juventus.

Sergio Conceicao is still reportedly under consideration, but previous reports indicate it his his agent, Jorge Medes, rather than Milan, who are pushing for that particular collaboration.

Fonseca and David double deal for Milan?

Sunday morning’s report hints that if Milan were to appoint Fonseca as a replacement for Stefano Pioli, he could potentially help the club to land Canada international Jonathan David, who is set to become available on the transfer market.

His contract in France is due to expire at the end of 2024-25, so he will be entering the final year of his current deal this summer. Recent reports suggest it will still take somewhere in the region of €45m to secure his services.

Milan are on the look-out for a new starting centre-forward, as veteran Olivier Giroud will leave the club upon the expiry of his contract this summer, to join LAFC in MLS.

  1. canada international and Portuguese coach at milan 😂
Only thing more funny would be when they move the AC Maaaaaaalllaaaan franchise to New York.

  2. Scamacca is way better than a Canadian forward and he is playing down the street in Bergamo. This is why I hate Serie A they aren’t able to sign players like Haaland and Bellingham like they would have in the 90s. So they are signing horrible American and Canadian players? Sign develop young Italian players Italy won U19 and lost in U20 final. Where are those players? Serie B

  3. Fonseca coached in Italy and his team was carved open in Serie A. This isn’t an upgrade to Pioli.
