According to Calciomercato.com and the latest reports from Portugal, Milan have requested Benfica midfielder Florentino on an 18-month loan with option to buy.

He has fallen down the pecking order lately with only two Champions League starts and seven in the domestic league, but has a €120m release clause in his contract to June 2024.

Benfica would prefer some guarantee of making money from the deal, whereas Milan’s finances are very tight at the moment.

Money would have to be raised with sales, and with that in mind, Sky Sport Italia report that Piatek’s agent was spotted arriving at the Milan headquarters today.

Piatek’s father told Polish reporters that he did not want to remain at San Siro on the bench, so would be happy to go elsewhere for regular first team football.

Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Newcastle United have shown interest, but only on loan, whereas Milan want to make back the €35m spent a year ago.
