There are reports Milan are challenging Lazio for the signature of Murat Yakin if he leaves Basel in January.

The Coach has impressed so far this season, earning back-to-back Champions League victories over Chelsea.

He had already been heavily linked with the Lazio job over the last few days, as Vladimir Petkovic is tipped to take over the Swiss national team.

However, Swiss site Infoticker now suggests Milan are also interested in Yakin’s services if Massimiliano Allegri continues to struggle.

The Rossoneri were held to a 2-2 draw by Livorno on Saturday and so far Allegri has remained in his place largely due to a lack of valid alternatives.

Yakin would fit the bill for President Silvio Berlusconi’s vision of an all-attack style of football.

It’s reported Yakin could walk away from Basel in January, though he is unlikely to quit if the club qualifies for the Champions League Round of 16.
