Milan are waiting on tests after Sandro Tonali and Junior Messias sustained injuries during today’s 6-1 friendly win over Vicenza, as there are fears the midfielder could be out for a month.

The Rossoneri were already 4-1 up at the Stadio Romeo Menti when Tonali slipped and over-extended, immediately clutching the inside of his left leg.

Without waiting for advice from the medical staff, a clearly annoyed Tonali limped off the field and straight into the locker room.

Initial reports from Sportitalia suggest it is a flexor issue, though tests will be needed to see the extent of the damage.

A strain would be a serious problem, as that could require a month on the sidelines, so he could even miss the derby against Inter.

Milan begin the Serie A season on August 13 against Udinese at San Siro, then visit Atalanta on August 21, Bologna on August 27, Sassuolo on August 30 and Inter on September 3.

Meanwhile, Messias also limped off and the initial diagnosis is a sprained right ankle.

  1. New DCM just went from optional to necessary. I’m betting 100% of the remaining budget will now go to this.
