Milan have been interested in Brest midfielder Romain Faivre for some time now but are facing serious competition.

The Rossoneri have been in contact with the Ligue 1 club and the Frenchman’s entourage for a few weeks but have not yet ironed out a deal, although the Milanese club are big fans of the 23-year-old.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Lille have also set their sights on Faivre, believing him to be the perfect replacement for Jonathan Ikonè, who moved to Fiorentina earlier this transfer window. They would want to bring him in before this month ends.

Milan will now have to act fast if they want to beat out their French competition for the 23-year-old trequartista, with important updates expected over the coming weeks.

The Rossoneri and Lille are in talks regarding Renato Sanches and Sven Botman, but now they’re on opposite sides of the table in the race for Faivre’s signature.

  1. This keeps repeating itself over and over again ……. Milan seem to want every single player who might be available ….. they think and talk ……. and think and talk ….. and take months and months to take a decision ….. but by that time the bird would have flown away …… this is happening all the time ….. Botman, Faivre, Sanchez ……

  2. Michele, I think there is a distinction between what the press and news sites say about a club’s transfer activities and what is actually going on. Remember, stories help make a living and many stories are regurgitated.

  3. Milan 141:

what you write is very true …… but then some stories disappear after a couple of weeks while others go on and on for weeks and months.

The ones that disappear soon are all stories invented by the press and by agents ….. those which keep on appearing week after week I tend to believe and are generally true …..

Unfortunately the milan management tends to miss the bus quite often while others are fast and waste no time at all …..

  4. Milan fan:

In the summer all 3 birds would have flown away …….. summer will be way too late my friend …..

  5. FFP is making Milan‘s transfer strategy increasingly difficult, hence the free agents and affordable deals. Hopefully after this season if they come in under the loss threshold we’ll see some real movement on their part.

But yes, we are all frustrated that they keep losing deals…
