Milan have received an opening from VfB Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy and now reportedly face a few obstacles in the negotiations.

The Rossoneri did not manage to pick up a reliable centre forward in the summer transfer window, signing Luca Jovic from Fiorentina as a short-term stop gap, leaving Olivier Giroud to be the primary striker.

Milan are planning to intervene in the January transfer market, wanting to keep up in the race for the league title, and have identified Guirassy as a strong option to bolster their frontline.

As reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Milan received positive signals when opening talks with Serhou’s entourage on Thursday and they’re now ready to begin in-depth negotiations.

The Rossoneri do face a number of roadblocks that they’ll have to overcome, however. First, the striker would prefer to finish the season in Germany, not convinced about switching leagues in the middle of the campaign.

The second issue is competition from the Premier League, with Newcastle, Manchester United and West Ham all keen on the Guinean forward.

Milan are willing to pay Serhou’s €17.5m release clause but they’ll first need to receive the green light from the 27-year-old.
