Milan have been linked with a potential swoop for Fiorentina goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano after Mike Maignan’s injury raised concerns about his understudies.

The France international limped off at half-time during a Nations League match against Austria last week and was diagnosed with a calf strain that will keep him out of action for approximately a month.

Because Milan have a limited Champions League squad due to the lack of homegrown and especially Italian players, they had to leave Ciprian Tatarusanu off the list.

His name is being introduced to replace Maignan for the rest of the group phase.

The only other goalkeepers at Milan’s disposal are Tatarusanu and Antonio Mirante, whose contracts are running down and their ages are 37 and 39 respectively.

According to Calciomercato.com and MilanNews.it, this means the club is looking to bring in a younger alternative for Maignan, settling on Fiorentina goalkeeper Terracciano.

The 32-year-old is only under contract until the end of the season and is battling for the gloves with Pierluigi Gollini.

If they don’t pick him up in January for a cut-price deal, then Terracciano could go to San Siro as a free agent next summer.
