Milan are edging closer to a deal with AS Monaco for Youssouf Fofana, raising their bid to €12m plus additional bonuses, while the asking price drops to €18m.

According to Sky Sport Italia this evening, the latest proposal put forward to the Ligue 1 side is worth €12m plus add-ons.

It is still not going to be enough, but it is a move slightly closer to the asking price, which Monaco are now said to be placing at a reduced €18m.

There is confidence that negotiations can continue to whittle down the differences and reach an agreement before the end of the summer.

Fofana has eyes only for Milan

Time is on the side of the Rossoneri, because his contract only runs to June 2025 and Monaco know they cannot afford to risk losing him as a free agent next year.

The asking price of €20m is already a bargain for the former Strasbourg star, who moved to Monaco in January 2020 for €15m.

Fofana has 21 senior caps for France, scoring three goals, and made 173 Ligue 1 appearances.
