According to Sportitalia, Zenit still haven’t been able to agree a deal and it has opened the door for Milan.

Directors Leonardo and Paolo Maldini both left Casa Milan headquarters this afternoon, suggesting new negotiations were intensifying.

Laxalt would be essentially a replacement for Luca Antonelli, who terminated his contract to join Empoli as a free agent last week.

Genoa and Milan have regularly exchanged players and Andrea Bertolacci could be included as part of the swap.

Laxalt started his Serie A career at Milan's rivals Inter.
