The 26-year-old came through the Rossoneri’s youth system but they let him go, and he has gone on to become one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards.

Aubameyang has scored 35 goals in 40 appearances for Dortmund this season and agent Yvan Le Mee reflected on his San Siro past.

“Someone said that Aubameyang didn’t have technical qualities,” Le Mee told Le 10 Sport.

“He finished the Under-17 World Club Cup with Milan as top scorer, scoring five goals in six games.

“We realised that he wasn’t playing in the Milan Primavera team, that the Rossoneri Coach preferred Italian players, leaving Aubameyang on the bench. At that point we reached a deal with Dijon.

“After six months of pushing them, Milan decided to accept the loan: the boy with the square feet, as they said, had scored eight goals and made eight assists at only 19 years old.

“For me, today Aubameyang is the best striker in the world.”
