Milan’s crucial Serie A title clash with Atalanta to be refereed by Daniele Orsato

Milan‘s clash with Atalanta which could see them take a huge step towards winning the Scudetto will be refereed by Daniele Orsato with Massimiliano Irrati the designated VAR official.

Victory for Milan coupled with a draw or defeat for Inter against Cagliari in Sunday’s later match would see the Rossoneri crowned champions as they would move three points clear of the table with one match remaining but be uncatchable due to their better head-to-head.

But Milan have not won at San Siro with Orsato as referee since January 6, 2010 when they beat Genoa – then managed by Gian Piero Gasperini – 5-2.

Inter’s clash with Cagliari will be officiated by Daniele Doveri with Marco Di Bello on VAR duties.

In more bad omens for Milan fans, their last victory over Atalanta at home was on January 6, 2014 when Kaka scored a brace in 3-0 win.

Of the subsequent seven matches, Milan have drawn four and lost three.

A draw against Atalanta would mean Milan have to beat Sassuolo in their final match of the campaign to guarantee the title.
