Simon Kjaer only has 12 months left on his contract with Milan and could be offered a new deal to allow him to retire at the club.

The 34-year-old Danish centre back initially joined the Giallorossi in January 2020 from Sevilla, spending six months on loan before making a definitive transfer worth around €3.68m.

Kjaer has proven himself an important part of Milan’s recent success, being a key leader in the squad and reliable rotation option. He’s made 96 appearances since his arrival three and a half years ago.

As reported by MilanNews.it, Kjaer is hoping to continue with Milan until his retirement and could be offered a one-year contract extension by the club, which’ll extend his stay until June 2025.

The Danish defender confirmed his intentions when speaking to the media ahead of the Champions League semi-final derby with Inter, saying: “This is where I want to finish, it’s the club I’ve always dreamed of finishing at.”

Last season, Kjaer saw over 1500 minutes of action across 24 total appearances for Milan.
