Milan now have the full list of potential Europa League knockout round play-off opponents, including Gennaro Gattuso’s Olympique Marseille and Sporting CP, but Toulouse would pose UEFA problems.

The Rossoneri finished third in their Champions League group and therefore drop down into the Europa League.

In February they will face one of the teams who were runners-up in their Europa League group, the winner going through to the Round of 16.

The draw will be held on Monday afternoon and we now have the full list of potential rivals.

Roma are excluded, because two teams from the same country cannot be drawn against each other at this stage of the tournament.

Some of the toughest options include Olympique Marseille, who were beaten in the final minutes by Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton and Hove Albion and are coached by ex-Milan hero Gattuso.

The other candidates are Freiburg, Sparta Prague, Sporting CP, Rennes and Qarabag.

However, Milan will probably be kept separate from the draw against Toulouse, because both clubs have RedBird as major shareholders.

RedBird are looking into the possibility of selling their 85% stake in Toulouse, which was acquired in 2020.
