Milan were very impressed by Sergino Dest’s work with the US at the World Cup and are reportedly planning to activate the buy option attached to his loan move.

The 22-year-old American full back joined the Rossoneri on loan from Barcelona in the summer but struggled to show his best in the first half of the season, only being handed two starts across Serie A and the Champions League by Stefano Pioli.

Dest was called up for the American national team for their World Cup campaign and he featured prominently, starting in all four games and providing the assist for Christian Pulisic’s goal against Iran.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Milan were keeping a close eye on Dest and were left impressed after his work at the World Cup. The club have been convinced about his qualities and are now planning to activate the €20m buy option attached to his loan deal.

The 22-year-old American full back will be hoping for more chances in the Lombardy capital in the second half of the season.

  1. He played well. I guess at his age and with his potential he’s worth 20m, but whether Milan can spend that money when they have other priorities is another matter.
