With Mike Maignan undergoing surgery and Alessandro Plizzari out until January, Milan have contacted free agent Antonio Mirante.

The club announced this afternoon that Maignan is still feeling pain in his left wrist, an injury he has been struggling with since the Champions League trip to Liverpool last month.

He will therefore have keyhole surgery tomorrow and only then will the length of his absence from the pitch be known.

Estimations in the Italian media range anywhere from 10 days to a month.

Milan confirm wrist surgery for Maignan

Third-choice goalkeeper Plizzari is out until January after surgery on his knee, so the only available shot-stopper is Ciprian Tatarusanu.

Because of this, multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia report Mirante has been contacted by Milan directors to see his availability.

The 38-year-old is a free agent after his contract with Roma ran down in June.

He had been in talks with Spezia, while Venezia today signed Sergio Romero as a free agent after his Manchester United spell.

I might be wrong, but you can’t do loans or sale transfers until transfer window in January

Only players out of contract can be signed right now.
